Zed now automatically continues Markdown lists when you press Enter, making it faster to write documentation, notes, and README files.

Features

Automatic List Continuation

When you press Enter at the end of a list item, Zed automatically creates the next item:

  • Works with unordered lists (-, *, +)
  • Works with ordered lists (1., 2., 3.)
  • Works with task lists (- [ ], - [x])

Tab Indentation

Press Tab on a list marker to quickly create nested lists:

- Parent item
  - Child item (created by pressing Tab)
    - Grandchild item

Configuration

Both features are enabled by default, but you can customize them:

{
  "extend_list_on_newline": true,  // Auto-continue lists on Enter
  "indent_list_on_tab": true // Indent lists with Tab
}

Perfect for writing documentation, taking notes, or creating structured content without breaking your flow.
